Winter Squashes Delicious & Now Available

This fall's harvest is the best we have grown so far!  Enjoy our open polinated & heirloom winter squashes.  We have Green Kabocha, Musca, & West Indies Pumpkin (commonly called Calabasa).  All three store well & taste super!  Hot roasted squash on a cold winter night...it's SO good!  Read our cooking tips on our "Tips & farm recipes" page.

Greens & Beans ready soon

NOVEMBER IS NICE!!!   The weather is just so great for working outdoors!  And plants love it too!  Well some of the veggies, the cukes, zukes & winter squash are showing signs of stress from a few cold evenings in the upper 40's and  that's to be expected, but the little collard and Russian kale plants are starting to take off, the first lettuces are finally  looking happy & the  broccoli that struggled after being transplanted in the september heat is now knee high! As for my latest harvest news, I have begun bringing baby arugula to my retail customers (go get your bag!)  and it won't be long before the spring mix that everyone is craving is ready (expect it around Thanksgiving although there may be a few early bags out there as early as next week).  With Thanksgiving just a few weeks away I am checking my bean plants often.  We  should have be...

Buckets of slicing cucumbers The cucumber harvest has been great & we  have been selling them like crazy.  They taste fantastic fresh from the field!  Looks like all that extra compost helped keep our plants healthy.   Hopefully we will have them available for another week or 2 although I don't expect to harvest as many.

A Promising Season Starting

Summer is over, good growing weather is here!  One of the fields which fronts highway 40 is a sea of cucumbers & winter squash vines!  The first  cucumbers & baby bok choy got sent  out to Love Whole Foods & Access to Organics.   I should be harvesting cukes for a few more weeks & plan to bring some to the OCT Farmers Market @ the Stetson University campus NEXT SUNDAY!   Baby bok choy should be in season through the spring, and coming in November just in time for Thanksgiving we should have beans, kale, collards, & 3 kinds of winter squash including a Mexican Pumpkin & a Florida Native American squash.  Stay in touch & if you want large quantities of squash contact me as they could sell out fast!  Watch for weekly blog updates.  I am not promising, but am going to make a sincere effort to plan in farm blog time into my schedule.
Since 1999 we have been providing local stores and restaurants with fresh specialty produce and high quality vegetables grown using organic methods.  Our farm is located in Barberville, Fl.   The vegetables we offer are chosen specifically for their superior flavor and adaptability to grow in Central Florida.
